Society in which Mother Teresa lived
Mother Teresa’s life was very long. She was very old when she died and throughout her life, she witnessed and lived through many hardships. From a very young age, war had emerged in the world. In her youth and adult life, she continued to lived through many others wars which all were very devastating. Although many of these wars did not affect her, it all took place in her life.
The first war that she occurred in her life was the First World War (WW1) which had started when she was 4 years of age. This was not too concerning as she was very young and had no part in the war herself. She lived her life normally as a normal girl at that time. This society was normal for her and she grew up relatively safe with all the right needs provided to her.
The second war was the Second World War (WW2), which had started when she was 29 years of age. She did not participate in the war but was a teacher in Calcutta at this time. Calcutta was caught in the war. During this time, she saw 3 million people die of starvation and millions die of violence. This society was very poor and it was a time of great violence. This touched Mother Teresa's heart.

As well as this, in her life two other wars took place. Both of these wars took place when she was very old and it did not affect her. These were the Vietnam War and the first Iraq war. This was a time of great tragedy and distress with deaths of hundreds of thousands. In this time, the society which she lived in was fine but the world around her was very violent.
Although all these wars occurred in her life, she remained faithful to God and still lived with the poor. She still loved them and cared for them as much as she could. This was in the streets of India that she lived with the poorest of the poor. Her love for them was so strong. This society was poor, malnourished and mistreated, and was generally an unclean and unhealthy environment to live in, but with her there to help and teach them, the society became a better place.

Over the many years of her service to the poor, she saw how the poor in India got from poorest from the poor to poor and middle class. This was a society with more improved living environment and many people could now feed themselves at least three times a day. It was a better society then it was when Mother Teresa wasn’t there.
In Mother Teresa’s general life, she saw many changes in the world. The technological changes and humans changes astonished her. The technologies improved from pathetic to extremely good. Some changes in society were that women could vote and were considered equal to men in many countries. Other changes in society have also been remarkable such as black men being considered equal to white, child labour ceased and more jobs were offered to help people. This society was a huge change but for much better.
