Influences on Mother Teresa, her ideals, beliefs and values
The first thing that influenced Mother Teresa was the sight of all the poor and starving people dying when she taught in Calcutta. This sight had her heart feel pity for them and made her want to help them in some way. She did not really decide to do anything major to help the poor at that point.
It was on September 10th 1946, a day we call “Inspiration Day”, that Mother Teresa received what she describes as ‘A call within a call’. It was on the train to Darjeeling when she received this call to leave the convent a join the poor. For many years Mother Teresa tried to leave the convent and finally she got one-year leave. This was when she joined the poorest of the poor in the streets of India.

What really influenced her was the fact that so many people were dying of starvation and that no one was taking action to help them. She wanted to help them in any way she could, as she knew that was what wanted her to do.
These qualities were pity and compassion, two very strong values of Mother Teresa.

As she lived with the poor, she felt more and more connected to them and this shaped her ideals of equality for all. This was because she wanted the poor to be as equal to those who were rich. She wanted all people to be honest and fair to each other.

Throughout her life, she cared and gave to the poor people. She cared for the sick, homeless and marginalised. She gave them all the necessities they need to survive. She gave them a better life, and possible for the young people a brighter future.
These qualities were care and generosity.
These are just a few of the many qualities that Mother Teresa possessed and these all were her values, beliefs and ideals.
To sum it all up, she lived among the poor and show how badly treated they were. God also spoke to her and told her what to do. The way she saw the poor shaped her ideals as she felt pity for them and wanted to help them.
